Q: Who can attend?
Program is designed for Native American youth ages 12-18. Youth who attend vary in
educational experience, cultural background, and residence. We limit our group to 25

ratio. Community staff and leaders are also welcome to register to accompany their local
youth or experience our program. ITY provides Staff Chaperones, Leaders and Mentors.
Q: Leads, Chaperones?
ITY Program Director: Marc Chavez 858-314-8821, plus 2 experienced finger-print background
checked adult coordinators: one female and one male program coordinator. 3 ITY Staff trained
university student-mentors will also help supervise students during day/night and maintain logistics.
Q: Airport/Bus pick-up?
We provide airport, bus, and train, pick-up/drop off at Oakland Airport, Bus, Train Station.
Q: Keeping in touch with participant, homesickness?
We will supply direct cell phone numbers to reach ITY Director in case of an emergency. With the exception
when camping, participants will be allowed to make phone calls on 4 separate nights to call family at the
decision of the participant. Note: We are very experienced if homesickness arises. We have 14 years providing
comfort and mentor ship while youth are away from families. We have a100% success rate in providing a great
experience for youth and family, especially during "the first time away from home" experience. We also post
pictures and videos to our IntertribalYouth.org social media sites. Families can follow their youth's experience.
Q: Where do participants sleep and what are the arrangements?
Accommodations will always be clean, comfortable and be at moderately upscale university dorms or hotels
with 1 night camping at Patrick’s Point State Park and 2 nights Hoopa Reservation Campground. Male and female
students will be separated and chaperoned/supervised. There are 1.5 staff members to every 4 students.
