The Eastern side of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, right in the center of Californi, is a must see and a California vortex of natural power. Keep one's eyes and ears open. This is a birth place of California. Awe and wow at every turn. We listen to the waters and kayak on lakes as we witness heaven on earth. Give thanks.
Meeting Points:
San Diego, Riverside, San Bernardino, Owens Valley
Day-to-Day Itinerary* (*Tentative: subject to change)
Day 1: Owens Valley/Mammoth Lakes
As the Sierras melt from heavy snow, pure water is captured in pools and lakes all over the mountains. Beautiful scenes offer the perfect summer experience for fun and learning. Glacial water and underground thermal waters offer healing as we visit with the Shoshone and Paiute people of the Easter Sierras and Valleys.
Day 2: Mammoth Mountain and Lakes
These mountains hold an ancient history with an abundance of nature and cultural resources. We work with local natives and science professionals to explore natural history, earth science, and ancient stories that reflect a timeless land. Kayaking along the clear waters, you can see your reflection and the giant mountain peaks surrounding you. One is truly humbled. What truly inspires human beings?
Day 3: Mono Lake, Yosemite, Tioga Pass
The stories of Mono and the area are priceless. The landscape will amaze you as you daydream through time. Tioga pass climbs from the high desert landscape to over 10,000 feet above see level through a land with jagged peaks covered in part with glacial ice. Yosemite is the most visited park in California, second to Disneyland. Clear lakes and fresh air fill one's spirit as enormous rock formations stretch to the sky. Waterfalls seem to fall from the heavens as Yosemite Valley tells its inspiring story. We visit with the last Native family to live in the valley and re-learn our original connection to nature.
Day 4: Yosemite River, UC Merced, Departure
As we follow the rivers from the Sierras, they wind down to nourish the basins below. An excellent moment to re-cap on the weekend adventure, swim and enjoy a BBQ in nature. We learn a little of California’s “gold rush” and how it affected the original people of the area. After lunch we arrive at UC Merced for departure home.
